Afaq Ahmed holds a Master of Philosophy in Education (MPhil) with distinction from the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) and a B.Ed Hons from the University of Peshawar. He remained a member of Dean Selection Committee and the academic review committee during his time at the AKU-IED. Soon after his graduation in 2021, he worked as a research associate at AKU-IED, where he co-authored (with Dr Sajid Ali) Pakistan’s first White Paper on teaching license.
Ahmed’s research interests include education policy, teacher education and quality of teaching. He is currently researching how global policies can be effectively translated into local contexts, particularly in Pakistan. Through his research, he also aims to examine the quality of teacher education programmes and how best to prepare quality teachers. His work has appeared in blogs, newspapers and journal articles.
